Only 500,000 Active Service Dogs in the U.S.

If there are 61 MILLION disabled individuals, then why do we only have 500,000 ACTIVE Service Dogs? This is because service dogs can cost $10,000 to upwards of $60,000. That is the price of a brand new car, so a dog that will last you 10-15 years. But people who choose to purchase and pay for training a dog have to pay for it upfront. Most training centers don't accept loans and offer very high rates for training.

Day-To-Day Lives

We see so many people everyday, especially if you live in an Urban area. But why are we surprised or thrown off when we see a disabled person? It is because disabled individuals have so much more progress to be made when it comes to representation. Society makes them feel like they are now the outcasts and they are forced to hide away to not stand out. With more representation and advocacy for the Disabled community, there could be many advancements made, such as: low cost healthcare, low cost service dogs, more laws protecting disabled individuals, and so much more love and freedom!
